Maybe because she knew I didn't speak French, she didn't care to (or couldn't) argue with me in English. Saved by the language barrier!

I'm surprised that all they did was walk away, you know how crazy brides can be! But you guys do look really adorable on your little bench. I would have felt bad asking you to move!

Thanks for your comment, Stephanie!

Self-employment does take a huge amount of effort and perseverance. Don't get me wrong - everything we did to get this single product from point A to point B required a huge amount of research and legwork. The thousand dollars for a few days work refers to what could be if we managed to turn the operation into an "assembly line" of sorts. The decision to go all in - invest in the necessary vehicles, trailers, etc. (stop borrowing from our friends), make the business on the up and up with the government, pay taxes, buy insurance, and set up everything else a legit business needs - requires us to step back and ask ourselves: Is this what we really want to do? Do we love this?

It's about finding the right opportunity that has both a potential for economic success AND tugs at our heartstrings. For this, we'll pull out all the stops.

Okay, so I didn't want to comment until I'd read part 1 and part 2, so this is for both.

I'm sorry it didn't work out, you guys. Your dreams are beautiful, and I hope with all my heart that you are able to achieve them. (If only so I can live vicariously through you!)

But at the same time, I have yet to meet a person in the self-employment field that didn't have to work their ass off, often working more than those of us tethered to jobs. If it were that easy to make a couple thousand dollars for a few days work everyone would do it! I hope you guys find your pot of gold, and you're creative and talented enough to do it. Just don't be discouraged along the way!
